miks mu voodi kuulub kõigile?
why does my bed belong to everybody?
Art project made in collaboration with President Kaljulaid's Foundation as a part of their "Orange
weeks"
programme "Why do we remain silent?".
In a 4 day long workshop on the topic of misogyny, we had lectures from professionals from
different artistic and non-artistic paths who discussed how misogyny shows up in film, literature, war,
music,
art etc.
The goal of the workshop was to make an artwork on the topic so me and Mia-Mai Roosberg collaborated on
this series of
huge and small posters titled "Why does my bed belong to everybody?".
We made the work location-specific - Baltic Station tunnel, making the tunnel metaforically a bed, one
end
is
the headboard and the other is the footboard. "Inside" the bed is covered with small posters
asking you "Why are you in my bed?".
The artwork was up for 10 days, during which it got vandalized a ton! With people answering the question
"Why are you in my bed?" with "to get laid", threw eggs on the big poster and the footboard got
decorated by
graffiti artists.
Overall the aim of art in the public space is to spark feelings and discussions, so I think it was a
success.
